WP Offload Media Lite for Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Google Cloud Storage

Descrição

FORMERLY WP OFFLOAD S3 LITE

This plugin automatically copies images, videos, documents, and any other media added through WordPress’ media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage. It then automatically replaces the URL to each media file with their respective Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage URL or, if you have configured Amazon CloudFront or another CDN with or without a custom domain, that URL instead. Image thumbnails are also copied to the bucket and delivered through the correct remote URL.

Uploading files directly to your Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage account is not currently supported by this plugin. They are uploaded to your server first, then copied to the bucket. There is an option to automatically remove the files from your server once they are copied to the bucket however.

If you’re adding this plugin to a site that’s been around for a while, your existing media files will not be copied to or served from Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage. Only newly uploaded files will be copied to and served from the bucket. The pro upgrade has an upload tool to handle existing media files.

Image Optimization

Although WP Offload Media doesn’t include image optimization features, we work closely with the author of EWWW Image Optimizer to ensure they always work well together. Not only do we recommend EWWW Image Optimizer but we officially support its integration with WP Offload Media.

The free version (lite) is close to useless. You can't even configure a CDN. I also purchased the paid version(about $40). It seems that's also half backed. It doesn't offload javascript, css or fonts. I think they have more expensive options (i.e. $200 ) but it's all shady and they don't tell you which version actually does all the offloading so that you can buy again a full version. I recommend you to stay away from these crooks

Free version can't upload existing files to S3 so it's useless for my use case. Pro is quite expensive; my use case would require 10k files for about USD 200 per year.

While it takes a little while to get everything configured (a bit of a learning curve to everything), this is a fantastic plugin! Great UI/UX too. Kudos to the team @deliciousbrains.

Been using Offload Media for years, and ran into a problem installing on a new site. Support found my issue quickly and the site works well. I like this plugin because it is completely transparent, makes my pages load faster, and takes all my largest files off my hosting server.

For some reason, the Pro version counts how many photos you have in your WordPress (strange, considering this is not an API Service), and you pay based on tiers. To have unlimited images in your WordPress, you need to pay $1,200/year. The explanation by the developer as to why this is the case is not any bit reassuring: Why a count of offloaded media?∞ Strange, right? Most WordPress plugins are limited to a certain number of sites, so why is this one using the number of offloaded media items? It turns out to be more fair… Let’s say you have 3 small WordPress sites. The Bronze license would probably serve you well. While a big site like TechCrunch would need a much bigger license. That’s fair. Now lets imagine licenses were limited by number of sites instead (like most other WordPress plugins): Bronze 1 site, Silver 2 sites, Gold 5 sites, etc. TechCrunch would only need a Bronze license while you would need Gold. Boo-urns. So for the smallest Pro package, you're expected to pay $70/year to manage 2,000 photos LOL. I can get a developer on Fiverr to build me this functionality using ChatGPT in a day or two, and have unlimited with no renewal fee.
