I encountered the issue also with another installation.
An administrator of the German support forum wrote that there was the same or a similar problem after introducing an additional formal translation. It was an API problem that causes a loop.

A core installation that also uses German and Russian.
I will try it on another installation to exclude that it is a problem related to the website.
