Markdown to Block Editor Importer lets you turn a Markdown document into a WordPress post or page in a single click. Headings, paragraphs, lists, blockquotes, fenced code, horizontal rules, images, and links are mapped to native blocks so the result opens cleanly in the block editor.

This plugin does not add a top-level menu item. After activating, find it under:

• Tools → Markdown Importer — upload a .md file and create a post/page.
• Settings → Markdown Importer — set the default status (Draft or Publish automatically).

How to use

1. (Optional) Go to Settings → Markdown Importer and choose the default status: Draft or Publish automatically.
2. Go to Tools → Markdown Importer.
3. Choose your Markdown file and (optionally) a title and content type. The status is pre-selected from your setting but can be overridden.
4. Click Import Markdown — you are taken to the new post/page in the block editor.

Heading mapping

• The first # (H1) becomes the post/page title automatically.
• ## becomes an H2 block; ### becomes an H3 block.

Troubleshooting

• Can’t see the menu item — it’s a submenu: look under Tools → Markdown Importer, not the top level. Confirm the plugin is still Active (WordPress auto-deactivates crashing plugins).
• File rejected — only .md/.markdown, under 1 MB (filter mdgi_max_upload_bytes).
• Wrong title — a typed title wins; else the first # heading; else the file name.
